The Chairman of Awgu Local Government Area, Hon. Uchenna Joseph Okolo, has commended Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah of Enugu State for unveiling the Enugu Ultra-Modern Transport System, describing it as a landmark initiative that will redefine mobility, strengthen infrastructure, and transform the lives of residents.In a statement signed by his Special Adviser on General Media and Publicity, Hon. Tochukwu Chukwu, Okolo praised the project as “a transformative leap in public sector innovation and urban development,” reflecting the governor’s commitment to progressive governance.Stakeholders have described the project as the first of its kind in Nigeria, aimed at cutting transportation costs, improving security, and attracting local and foreign investment. The initiative will particularly benefit public servants by reducing commuting expenses.The transport overhaul includes a digital transport management system, new bus terminals in Holy Ghost, Abakpa, Nsukka, and Gariki, and the deployment of 100 eco-friendly Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) buses. It also features 80 new bus stops strategically placed for safer and more accessible commuting.Okolo described the plan as a model for other states, commending Governor Mbah’s vision for a modern, sustainable, and inclusive transport system. He said the launch demonstrates the governor’s determination to bridge distances, stimulate economic growth, and position Enugu as a leader in modern infrastructure development in Nigeria.
